‘Still finishing the previous task’ — Send is held

Short answer

Send is held for a moment while the AI view catches up: either it is reattaching to a session that was already running, or the task you stopped is still finishing on the server. Wait a few seconds; anything you typed is kept and Send unlocks on its own.

Check first

  • Did you just open the view, or switch profiles? Reattaching is normal then.
  • Did you press Stop? The task keeps running until the server ends the turn.

Likely causes and fixes

The sentences below are the app’s own wording.

  1. “Reattaching to the previous session…”. The view is reconnecting to a running chat. Wait. If you pressed Enter meanwhile: “Your message is kept; Send unlocks when it settles.”.

  2. “Still finishing the previous task…”. You pressed Stop; the composer is free but the task itself is still ending, and a send in that window is refused. Wait for it to finish.

  3. “Stopping…”. Between pressing Stop and the server ending the turn. The steps already run stay on screen.

  4. “Try stopping again”. The Stop could not be confirmed. Press it again.

  5. Also counting toward the 3-task limit. A task still finishing counts as running (see 3 AI tasks are already running).

If it still fails

If Send stays held for several minutes with no task visibly running, close and reopen the AI view, then stop the session and launch again. If it repeats, press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include the session id.
