No hour limit under fair use (paid plans)

You might be here because: “what does fair use mean” · “No hour limit (fair use)” · “Unlimited, fair use” · “is there a limit on how long a session can run” · “do you charge per hour” · “will I get a bill for usage” · “how many hours do I get a month” · “can I keep a session open all day” · “cost estimate crossed a threshold” · “unlimited hours” · “my session ended, did I run out of time”

Short answer

Session hours are not metered on any current paid plan: there is no monthly hours allowance. Each session runs for a set time — a session that no AI agent drives, started in the desktop app or from your code, runs for up to 4 hours — and you can start the next one whenever you like. The free trial is the exception: its sessions run for up to 20 minutes each, with 2 hours in total of session time, and both limits are enforced. Fair use means using your plan the way its limits describe — up to its number of profiles at once, with no limit on total hours, one session after another. You pay the plan price, monthly or yearly, and nothing per hour.

Check first

  • Which plan? Every paid plan on sale shows No hour limit (fair use) for session hours. Earlier plan pages said Unlimited, fair use for the same thing. The Trial does not: it shows 2 hours in total, counted from the day the trial starts. A trial session is closed after 20 minutes, or sooner if the 2 hours run out, and once they are used a new session is refused (HTTP 429 tier-limit, code: "trial_session_time_used") — see ‘Session time limit reached’ (sessions have a time limit).
  • A session that ended on its own most likely closed after inactivity, not because of an hours limit — see Session was closed after inactivity.

Likely causes and fixes

  1. “What happens if I use a lot?” If an account uses far more than is normal for its plan, or slows the service for other customers, we get in touch first; only if it carries on may we limit it or ask you to move to a plan that fits. Nothing is switched off without contact. Fix: if you were contacted, reply to that message.

  2. “I saw a cost estimate or a threshold notice.” That figure is an internal signal, not a spending cap: crossing it may show an in-app notification, but it sends no billing email, adds nothing to your invoice, and blocks no session. It is recalculated live from how many minutes your sessions have run and reads no billing record. No action needed.

  3. “So what is limited?” Profiles at once, saved profiles, saved proxies, profile storage, recipes and API requests per minute. On a paid plan the monthly total of hours is the one thing without a number — the plans are priced by how many profiles run at once. A single session still has an end: up to 4 hours for a session that no AI agent drives. On the trial the total is limited too (2 hours).

  4. “My session still ended.” On a paid plan a session ends when you stop it, after inactivity, at 4 hours if no AI agent drives it (closed_reason: "max_duration"), at the safety limit that closes any session still open about 12 hours after it started (closed_reason: "orphaned-lifetime"), when no Mac was free, or when the plan lapses. An AI session can also end when its token budget runs out, at a step deadline or when its exit IP changes. None of these is a monthly hours meter. Start the next session whenever you like. A trial session also ends at 20 minutes (closed_reason: "trial_session_limit"), or when the trial’s 2 hours run out (closed_reason: "trial_time_used"). The overlay’s recap line says which; see ‘Session ended’ overlay, ‘Couldn’t reach the live-stream server’, Reconnect.

If it still fails

If you were written to about fair use, answer that message — the person who sent it handles it. For anything else, press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include your plan and what you saw. Nothing here requires an account action.
