‘This proxy changed since you last loaded it’ / folders and tags changed elsewhere
You might be here because: “this proxy changed since you last loaded it” · “changed on another computer” · “your folders and tags changed on another computer” · “409 stale revision” · “my edit won’t save, says refresh and try again” · “this was deleted on another computer”
Short answer
Proxies live on your account, so another computer, a teammate, or a script using your key can change one between the moment you loaded it and the moment you save. Rather than overwrite that change, the save is refused: “This proxy changed since you last loaded it. Refresh and try again.”. Reload the row, look at what changed, and make your edit again. Nothing you typed was written over theirs.
Check first
- Is the app signed in on another computer, or does a teammate share the workspace?
- Is a script or integration using your API key to edit proxies?
Likely causes and fixes
- Desktop app: “Changed on another computer.” followed by “field: you set X, the other computer set Y.” The app reloads the row and re-sends once automatically if the other computer touched different fields; it only stops when the same fields collide. Reload to see the latest, then make your change again.
- “This was deleted on another computer.” The row is gone; a
404means gone, a409means it still exists. - “Your folders and tags changed on another computer since you last loaded them. Reload and try again.” Same rule for the proxy folders/tags list.
- API caller. A
PUTwith a staleexpected_revisiongets409withcode: stale_revisionandcurrent_revision. Re-read the proxy and reissue. Note the desktop app re-sends each saved proxy before every launch, which can move the revision.
If it still fails
If a second attempt after reloading gets the same refusal, the row is being edited live on the other side — coordinate with whoever else uses the account. Press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include the proxy label and the two values shown if it still will not save.
