Which iPhone devices a plan can choose
You might be here because: “which iPhones can I use” · “Not on your plan” · “why can’t I pick that device” · “does the trial have all devices” · “which devices does the trial include” · “why can I only pick iPhone 13 on the trial” · “is there an iPad or Android” · “what does Verified mean in the device list” · “my profile will not launch, the device is not on my plan” · “why is my session a different iPhone each time”
Short answer
Every paid plan — Starter, Pro, Team, Scale and Enterprise — can choose any device open for new profiles. The Trial includes two: the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini. The iPhone 13 mini is closed for new profiles, so a new trial profile uses the iPhone 13; a profile already on the 13 mini keeps it. Devices are iPhones only: there are no iPad, Android or desktop profiles.
Check first
- Versions marked “✓ Verified” or “Measured” are the ones you can pick. Any other label (On hold, Not on your plan) explains why it is not offered; a phone whose versions your plan does not include shows a grey card that says “Not on your plan”. What the two marks mean: “Every device offered uses an identity measured on a real iPhone. Devices marked ✓ Verified are also proven identical on rendering, fonts and screen.” A “Measured” device has its browser identity measured on a real iPhone of that model, iOS and Safari version; its rendering is not proven identical.

Likely causes and fixes
-
“Not on your plan”. Shown when the plan has a device list — the Trial does: “Choose one of the devices your plan includes.”. Fix: choose a device you can pick, or move to a paid plan for every model. A profile you create on the trial without naming a device gets a randomly chosen iPhone model from those the trial includes that are open for new profiles, never a device the trial could not then clone or restore.
-
“On hold”. The device is still being checked against a real iPhone; see Profile’s device is on hold.
-
A device you expected is missing. Not every iPhone model is offered;
GET /v1/archetypeslists each model and whether it is open for new profiles. New profiles get a randomly chosen iPhone model from those your plan includes that are open for new profiles; you can also pick a model yourself. A model closed for new profiles is never drawn, so a profile made without choosing never gets one; there is no default device. -
A session you did not pick a device for is a different iPhone each time. New profiles and sessions started without a device get a randomly chosen iPhone model from those your plan includes that are open for new profiles; you can also pick a model yourself. A session started without a profile and without a device (
POST /v1/sessionsorPOST /v1/agent-sessionswith noarchetype) runs as a fresh visitor, drawn again for each session — often a different one from session to session, never the same default every time. The session’sarchetypenames the device it got andarchetype_sourcereadsrandom. To pick one, passarchetype; to keep one identity between runs, launch a profile. A profile keeps the device it was made with, random or chosen. -
From code.
GET /v1/archetypeslists what is selectable right now, no sign-in needed. -
A saved profile on another device will not launch on the Trial. A profile keeps the device it was made with, and the device is checked again at launch. On the Trial, a profile set up as any device other than the iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 mini is refused with HTTP 403,
code: "device_not_on_plan": “This profile is set up as the iPhone 17, which your plan (Trial) does not include…”. Nothing about the profile is changed. Fix: choose a paid plan to launch it as it is, or delete it permanently and create a profile on a device marked “✓ Verified” or “Measured”.
If it still fails
If a device marked “✓ Verified” or “Measured” is refused at launch, press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include the device id shown in the picker and the message. To move to Starter, Pro or Team, open the dashboard → Billing → Choose a plan (self-serve). Scale and Enterprise, refunds, disputed charges and “I paid but the plan is not active” are handled by a person.
