‘Reconnect to make changes’ — the app is offline and view only
You might be here because: “Reconnect to make changes” · “Edit is greyed out” · “I can’t save anything in the app” · “the app says offline but my internet works” · “buttons disabled everywhere” · “changes I made didn’t stick”
Short answer
Everything in the app lives on your account, so a change needs a connection to it. When the app cannot reach the service it shows what it last loaded and disables every edit control with “Reconnect to make changes.” Nothing is queued: a change you could not make was not made. Get back online, then redo it.
Check first
- Is your computer online, and can other sites load?
- A VPN or firewall on your computer can block the app while the browser works.
- Was the service unreachable for a while? The app marks it “down” after it stops answering.
Likely causes and fixes
-
Offline is view only by design. There is no offline edit queue; Edit and Change stay visible but disabled with this sentence as their tooltip. Fix: reconnect; the controls enable when the service answers again.
-
Offline is decided from two signals: the computer’s own online state and whether the service has answered recently. If your internet is fine but the app still says this, the service itself may be unreachable from your network; try again in a minute.
-
A change did not stick. A write attempted while offline throws before sending anything. Redo it once online.
If it still fails
If you are online, other sites load, and the app stays view only for more than a few minutes, press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include the time, your app version and whether the web dashboard loads. If you cannot sign in at all, that is an account-access matter for a person.
