Bundled AI: opt-in consent and monthly cap (legacy API plans)
You might be here because: “Bundled-LLM consent required” · “Bundled-LLM monthly cap reached” · “Turn on bundled AI in the web dashboard” · “Your monthly AI budget has been reached” · “you’ve used $X of your $Y monthly bundled-LLM budget” · “402 from the agent” · “how do I raise my AI budget” · “what is bundled AI” · “when does the AI budget reset” · “opting in to bundled AI was refused”
Short answer
Bundled AI lets an account on the earlier API Builder or API Scale plans, or on Enterprise, run the AI agent without a provider key of its own. Each turn counts against a monthly cap you set in the dashboard’s Settings page; it starts at a default you can raise, up to the ceiling Settings allows — both figures are on the Bundled LLM reference. Every paid plan on sale today, and the earlier Team, Agency and API Starter plans, run the agent on your own key or on the plan’s AI credits instead.
Check first
- Which plan does Billing show? Bundled AI exists only on the three plans above; on any other plan the way forward is a key of your own or credits.
- Is a provider key already stored? A key of your own is always used ahead of bundled AI.
- The switch and the cap are changed in the dashboard’s Settings page; the desktop app can only show them.
Likely causes and fixes
-
“Bundled-LLM consent required” (402). The deployment offers bundled AI, no key of your own was found, and your account has not opted in. The desktop app says “Turn on bundled AI in the web dashboard …, or connect your own provider key there.”. Fix: Settings → turn on bundled AI, or add your key. On a plan without bundled billing, opting in is refused — add your key instead.
-
“Bundled-LLM monthly cap reached” (402). “You’ve used $X of your $Y monthly bundled-LLM budget.”. The desktop app says “Your monthly AI budget has been reached. Raise it in the web dashboard … if it is below the $100 maximum …”. Fix: raise the cap in Settings if it is below the $100 maximum, add your own key, or wait — the budget resets at the start of the next calendar month, UTC.
-
Consent is on but a turn is refused with 403. Your current plan no longer includes bundled billing (after a downgrade, for example); upgrade or add your own key.
-
One model is refused. The largest models run on your own key only; start the session on the default model, or add a key.
-
“Where do I see what I have spent?” Settings shows the month’s spend against the cap. A turn refused at the cap is not counted as spend.
