Desktop app signed me out: ‘Your sign-in was revoked’ / ‘no longer valid’

You might be here because: “the app signed me out by itself” · “your sign-in was revoked, sign in again” · “your sign-in is no longer valid” · “my proxies and profiles disappeared from the app” · “session says sign in to the desktop app first” · “app went back to the setup screen”

Short answer

When the server refuses the app’s saved sign-in with a definite “revoked” or “invalid” answer, the app signs itself out once and shows a notice: “Your sign-in was revoked — sign in again” or “Your sign-in is no longer valid — sign in again”. Your proxies, profiles, folders and tags stay on your account and come back when you sign in again; recordings stay on this computer.

Check first

  • Did you (or a teammate) revoke the key in the web dashboard, or reset the password? A password reset signs out previous sessions.
  • Is it the notice above, or the milder “Your sign-in or API key was not accepted. Check Settings and try again”? The milder one does not sign you out — see Desktop app: ‘This API key wasn’t accepted’ / sign-in not accepted.
  • Sign in again from the setup screen with Sign in with browser before anything else.

Likely causes and fixes

  1. Key revoked in the dashboard. The app removed its local copy of the account (API key, AI chats, cached proxies/profiles, proxy check results, checklist and Get started guide progress, the recent devices in New profile, diagnostic log) — the same set as a manual sign-out. Sign in again.
  2. Sign-in no longer valid (for example, the account’s sessions were invalidated). Same recovery: sign in again.
  3. Unsent data from an older version. If this computer still held proxies or profile settings not yet moved to your account, a forced sign-out keeps them sealed for that account; they move when it signs in again.
  4. “Sign in to the desktop app first, then open the session again.” A session window was opened while signed out. Sign in, then reopen.
  5. The notice keeps coming back after signing in. The app signs out at most once per refusal; a repeat means the new key is also refused — check the server address in Settings and see ‘This API key wasn’t accepted’.

If it still fails

If you didn’t revoke anything and didn’t reset your password, an unexplained revocation is a security question for a person: press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include the time, the notice’s exact title, and the account email. The assistant can’t tell you who revoked a key.
