First sign-in after update: ‘Move this computer’s data to your account’
You might be here because: “the app wants to move my data to my account” · “move these to your account to edit them” · “what is this move dialog after the update” · “can I skip the move” · “the move stopped before it finished” · “will I lose my proxies if I move them” · “this computer holds data from an earlier sign-in”
Short answer
Saved proxies now live on your account rather than on one computer, so the same list appears wherever you sign in. The first time you sign in with the new app, it offers a one-time move of the proxies and profile settings this computer saved before that change. “Nothing changes until you press Continue.”. It’s safe: the move is resumable, and a backup of what moved stays on this computer for 30 days or until you sign out.
Your AI chat history moves too, on its own: at that first sign-in, the chats this computer saved are uploaded to your account with nothing to press, and from then on every chat is saved to your account as you go, so it appears on any computer where you sign in.
Check first
- Read the target line: “To the account [email] on [server].” — make sure that’s the account you meant.
- The summary says what will happen: “N proxies will move, N are already on your account, N need their password re-typed, N need your choice, N can’t move, N profiles get their proxy”.
- Skip for now is allowed; the app reminds you later, and the dialog reopens from the banner or Settings → Move this computer’s data.
Likely causes and fixes
- “Move these to your account to edit them.” Until the move runs, local-only proxies can’t be edited or saved twice; run the move.
- “The move stopped before it finished.” Nothing was removed from this computer that the account had not confirmed; it continues where it stopped the next time. Press Try again.
- “Not on your account yet.” Some items didn’t move; they stay here, still encrypted, until you delete them or retry. Common reasons the server can refuse: over your plan’s limit, a private address, a VPN row not on your plan, or an invalid line.
- “Already on your account.” The account already held the same proxy; it’s linked, not duplicated.
- Signed out before finishing. The unmoved data is sealed for that account and the move resumes when it signs in again; a different account sees “This computer holds data from an earlier sign-in that is not on its account yet” with only a Delete it option.
If it still fails
Press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include the summary line and the message shown. Don’t send proxy addresses or passwords. The assistant can explain each verdict; it cannot run or undo a move.
