Profile shows ‘proxy deleted — choose another’ and will not launch

Short answer

When a proxy is deleted, every profile that used it is detached: it shows “proxy deleted — choose another” and refuses to launch until you pick a proxy. Driftstack never re-points a profile at a different proxy on its own — that would change the IP address and country the profile browses from.

Check first

  • Signed in and online?
  • Do you still have another saved proxy? If not, add one in Proxies first.

Likely causes and fixes

  1. One profile. Open its Edit, choose a proxy in the Proxy picker, save, launch. The launch refusal says exactly this: “This profile’s proxy was deleted. Open Edit and choose a new proxy before launching, so the session doesn’t use a different IP address or country.”.
  2. Many profiles at once. The Profiles view shows “N profiles lost their proxy: it was deleted. An API call that names a proxy still launches them; to launch them from this app, choose a proxy.” (with profiles that never chose a proxy among them, it shows “Driftstack no longer picks a proxy for you. N profiles need one before they can launch.” and how many lost theirs) with Set a proxy for these… — tick the profiles and pick one proxy for all of them. Or open a proxy’s Assign to profiles… in the Proxies tab.
  3. Deleted on another computer or by a teammate. Proxies are on the account, so a delete anywhere detaches the profile everywhere. Same fix.
  4. A running session keeps going. A session already running keeps the proxy it started with; only the next launch needs the new choice.
  5. API caller. A detached profile reads proxy_choice: "detached"; setting default_proxy_id rebinds it. Sending proxy_choice: "detached" together with a default_proxy_id is a 400.

If it still fails

If a profile with a proxy chosen in Edit still shows “proxy deleted”, press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include the profile name and proxy label — a person should look.
