Cannot create a profile: plan’s saved-profile limit reached
You might be here because: “can’t create a new profile” · “Tier limit reached” · “keeps N saved profiles, and this account already has N” · “I deleted profiles but it still says I’m at the limit” · “duplicate profile is greyed out” · “how many profiles can I have” · “429 tier-limit” · “A usage limit was reached. Wait a moment or review your plan, then try again”
Short answer
Each plan includes a fixed number of saved profiles, and you have reached it. Only live profiles count: a profile in the Trash counts toward no limit. Delete a profile you no longer need, or move to a plan with a larger number, then create the profile again.
Check first
- Count the profiles in your list. Profiles in the Trash do not hold a slot.
- Team member? The limit is the team owner’s plan, and every teammate’s profiles count.
- App up to date and signed in? An old cached count can look wrong; refresh.
- This sentence covers four limits. What were you doing? Launching a profile → sessions at once (Concurrent session limit reached (429 concurrency-limit)) or, after a plan change, After a downgrade only the most recently used profiles/proxies can launch; creating or duplicating a profile → Cannot create a profile: plan’s saved-profile limit reached; sending a message to the AI → ‘3 AI tasks are already running’ (AI task limit).
Likely causes and fixes
-
You are at the plan’s number. Creating (or duplicating) a profile is refused with HTTP 429
tier-limit, detail “Your plan (…) keeps N saved profiles, and this account already has N. Delete a profile to free a slot, or choose a plan with more profiles.” — on the Trial, “Your plan (Trial) keeps 1 saved profile, and this account already has 1. …”. The app shows “A usage limit was reached. Wait a moment or review your plan, then try again.”. Numbers per plan: Trial 1, Starter 25, Pro 100, Team 300, Scale 1,000; Enterprise is set by contract. -
“I deleted profiles but it still says I’m at the limit.” A delete moves the profile to the Trash and frees its slot at once; profiles in the Trash count toward no limit. If you are still refused, refresh the list and count the live profiles: on a team, every teammate’s profiles count. You do not need “Delete permanently” to make room. The refusal’s
trash_countis always0now and will be removed, andcode: "profile_cap_trash"is no longer sent. -
Restoring from the Trash is refused. A restore needs a free slot (
code: "restore_needs_slot") and a restore left for the rolling 30 days (code: "restore_cap"). See What happens to a deleted profile (trash, restore, purge). -
Two people created profiles at the same time. The gate is re-checked under a lock, so the second create can be refused even if the list looked to have room. Refresh and retry after freeing a slot.

You need more profiles. Only a higher plan raises the number. To move to Starter, Pro or Team, open the dashboard → Billing → Choose a plan (self-serve). Scale and Enterprise, refunds, disputed charges and “I paid but the plan is not active” are handled by a person.
If it still fails
Press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include: your plan, the number of profiles shown and the exact message.
