‘Your browser is blocking site storage’ during sign-in or sign-up

You might be here because: “your browser is blocking site storage” · “browser storage is unavailable” · “I signed in but it didn’t save the session” · “login keeps looping back to the sign-in page” · “private window won’t let me sign in” · “signup button does nothing”

Short answer

The dashboard keeps your sign-in in the browser’s site storage. Before signing you in it writes a tiny test value and reads it back; if that fails, it stops and shows this message rather than sign you in and lose it. Allow site data/cookies for the dashboard’s address, then try again — nothing you typed has been lost.

Check first

  • Private/incognito window, or a “block all cookies / site data” setting?
  • A privacy extension or tracker blocker set to strict for this site?
  • Does the same happen in another browser? If not, it’s this browser’s settings.

Likely causes and fixes

  1. Before submitting (“…which sign-in/signup needs. Allow it in your browser settings, then try again”). The page refused to start. Allow site storage for the dashboard’s domain, reload, submit again.
  2. Provider buttons refuse (“Allow it, then try again”). Google/GitHub sign-in needs storage to keep the flow secret, so it refuses before opening the provider.
  3. After a successful sign-in (“You signed in, but your browser couldn’t save the session. Allow site storage, then sign in again”). The server accepted you; the browser dropped the result. Allow storage and sign in once more. On the provider callback: don’t reload — allow storage, then start again from sign-in.
  4. On a verify or magic-link page (“Allow it, then open the link again — it still works”). The link is not spent; allow storage and click it again.
  5. On the reset page — the link still works and your entries stay on the page.

If it still fails

Press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include the browser and version, whether it’s a private window, and which page showed the message. This is a local browser setting; the assistant can only guide, and there’s nothing on the account side to change.
