Free trial has ended: sessions refused until you choose a plan

You might be here because: “it says my trial ended” · “can’t start a session anymore” · “402 trial ended” · “session won’t launch, it was working last week” · “did I lose my profiles when the trial ended?” · “start button does nothing / not working” · “why can’t I run anything”

Short answer

Your 7-day free trial is over, so new sessions are refused until you choose a plan. Nothing was deleted: you can still sign in. We keep your profiles, proxies and settings for 30 days after your trial ends. Pick a plan from the dashboard’s billing page and sessions start again.

Check first

  • Signed in to the right account? The trial state belongs to the account owner; a teammate on an owner’s workspace is refused when the owner’s trial has ended.
  • Is the dashboard showing a “Free trial ended” banner or badge? If yes, this doc applies.
  • If the error text is something else (proxy, device, storage), it is a different problem — see Related.

Likely causes and fixes

  1. Trial ended → sessions refused (402 trial-ended). Every session start goes through one gate and returns HTTP 402 with the message “Your free trial has ended. Choose a plan to start sessions again. We keep your profiles, proxies and settings for 30 days after your trial ends.”. The desktop app says the same, with the same 30-day keep line, and points you to the dashboard. Fix: open the dashboard → Billing → Choose a plan. Once a plan is active, start the session again. Everything else (viewing profiles, settings, API reads) keeps working meanwhile.

  2. A paid plan that lapsed is refused the same way, and says so. When a subscription is cancelled, the account returns to the unpaid tier, which is the Trial with an end date in the past. A session start is refused with the same HTTP 402 trial-ended, but the message reads “Your plan has ended. Choose a plan to start sessions again. Your profiles, proxies and settings are kept.” (code: "plan_ended"), and the desktop app says the same. Fix: Billing → choose a plan.

A failed renewal payment is different while the card is still being retried: the subscription is not cancelled, and a session start is refused with HTTP 402, code: "payment_failed" and “Your last payment didn’t go through. Pay your open invoice or update your card to continue. Your profiles, proxies and settings are kept.” There is no grace period, and everything comes back once the payment goes through. If the last automatic retry also fails, the subscription ends and you choose a plan again, as above. See Payment failed.

  3. Plan just chosen but still refused. The gate reads the account live on every start, so there is no cache to wait out. Reload the dashboard / restart the desktop app and check Billing shows the plan as active. If it shows a payment problem instead, the checkout did not complete.

  4. Trial with no end date recorded. The gate treats a trial with no recorded end as ended. If Billing shows no trial dates at all and you believe you are mid-trial, contact support with your account email.

If it still fails

Press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include: your account email, the exact message shown, what Billing says under plan/status, and whether you are the owner or a teammate. A person handles anything involving a payment that was taken but the plan is not active.
